- Students from the graduating classes of 2006 through 2012 enrolled in more than 680 different institutions across the nation. The most recent graduates, the Class of 2012, enrolled at 133 institutions in 30 states across the nation.

- Three teachers have been nominated for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching are the highest honors bestowed by the United States government specifically for K-12 mathematics and science teaching.
- GCISD’s strategic plan is called LEAD 2021, which stands for Leading Excellence-Action Driven. Through four core objectives – preparing students to be college and career ready, harnessing technology for learning, fostering citizenship and mutual respect, and building community involvement – the district is creating an innovative environment where students are inspired, encouraged and supported.
- Within harnessing technology for learning, GCISD has transformed approximately 123 classrooms into digital classrooms. This incorporation of technology allows students to connect, develop and foster relationships not only with their classmates but with students around the world.
- GCISD has 11 National Blue Ribbon Schools, which earned the honor under the “No Child Left Behind” initiative. Additionally, both high schools earned places on the U.S. News and Newsweek’s Best High Schools list.
